A MATCH OF TWO HALVES
Tuseday, Oct 9, 2007
The second week of the new season saw an occurance that never
happened last season ( at least I don't recall it ). Rob Tite and
Shaun Bartlett were both playing for the first time in the league and
after the first five legs Rob must have been thinking "I like
this format " and Shaun "Why did I come to play here"
as Rob led 5-0; The second five legs saw a complete reversal as Shaun
came back to get a 5-5 draw, well done to both of you, I can sort of
imagine how Rob was feeling at the end of it as I was 5-2 up against
Pat O'Hara, but Pat got his act together and fought back to get a
draw. In Div 2 there was another comeback from Terry Humphreys who
found himself 1-5 down to Mike Rooke but came back to win the last
the last four legs ( 5-5 ).
Again this week, as last, I was only able to watch snippets of
matches being played. On board 3, John Nicholson and Paul Dunn had a
cracking match, 36 tons between them and also plenty of respect shown
by both ( all I could hear after every throw was either " yes,
darts Paul" or "super darts John" ) Paul came out on
top 7-3.
There was also a lot of the dreaded sound of "dart hitting
floor", the boards will be replaced as soon as funds are
available, Club membership will be paying for these, so please can
anyone who has not yet paid their membership do so as soon as
possible, see Steve Tapner ( club steward ). We need to be able to
keep the venue and we need to keep the club committee happy in order
to do this.
Looking at the stats side of things a lot of players have improved
their HSO's and LAD's this week...The only way is UP, I am sure I
will be having to delete more and more each week to enter new best
stats ( more work for me but a good one to do ).
I shall be conducting a survey of you all in the next couple of weeks
in order to gauge how the league is going from your perspective.
I haven't heard from anyone yet regarding someone different to write
on the site. Perhaps a guest writer each week would be good, I will
see Ian to find out if we could get another page on the site. Let me
know Ian if you read this.
Got some of the profiles on now, a couple more to do tomorrow and
waiting for the others to come back to me.
Well I'm signing off now, looking forward to next week.
Cheers for now,
Dave Lee
PROFILE UPDATING

Profile updating is now underway with thanks to Ian Hackett and his
programme. These will be done as I receive the profile
questionnaire's back.

NEW SEASON UNDERWAY
Tuseday, Oct 2, 2007
My apprehensiveness is over now that the new season has begun. Many
thanks go out to Steve Tapner and the Regnum Club for the extra
boards and the oches, Ian Hackett for setting up the new website, to
all the players from last season who set the league on its way,
spread the word and returned for this season, and to the new players
who have joined us.
The league has taken off (as some players said it would) and I have
had e-mails already from players wishing to join for the 2008/09
season. I hope that everyone enjoys playing the format and as the
season goes on I hope that you all will find your play is improving
and that you will enjoy your Monday nights more and more. There will
be nights when we have off ones but these will be few I am sure, the
main thing is to enjoy yourself, make new friends, play the best you
can and move up the table.
There are some matters that will require a player meeting to be held
in the next few months, details and a date will follow as soon as possible.
New boards will be purchased as soon as funds are available, please
remember also that "social" membership is required at the
club, I know that some have already paid their 10 pounds but please
see Steve Tapner as soon as you can to pay for your membership.
Player profiles will be updated as soon as Ian has shown me how to do
all the web work.
I'm afraid that I never got to see much of the matches around the
boards tonight, I can only comment really on my match and the one
previous between Adi L and Paul S. Adi and Paul played a cracker of a
match going ton for ton in the first 3 legs ( 3 each in the first
alone ), with the score at 2-2 Adi pulled away and won the last six
legs for a 8-2 victory. As for me and Mike F well I nearly got to the
dizzying heights of league leader but Mike won the tenth leg and so I
merely have a "nosebleed" as a 8-2 win puts me equal top
with Adi and Dunner ( if only the other Saints were so high up the
table !?!?!? ).
If anyone would like to write a piece for the website please let me
know, send it via e-mail or write it down and I will add it to the
site, I'm sure that you don't want to read my comments every week.
Anyway it's great to be underway again and I look forward to chatting
to you all, getting some feedback and enjoying hearing the banter and
sporting remarks that only the sport of darts brings.
Cheers for now,
Dave Lee
NEW WEBSITE & PLAYER WITHDRAWAL
Sunday, Sep 30, 2007
Ok there is good and bad news this week. The new website is up and
running the address is www.regnumdarts.co.uk
please let me know what you think and if you experience any problems
with it.
Unfortunately Mark Hatton has decided not to play this season, I
found this out last night and it is too short notice to really do
anything about except change Marks fixtures to a BYE week.. The full
outcome of the situation regarding the league structure will be
decided at a future player meeting.
I am looking forward (somewhat apprehensively) to the first night of
the season tomorrow. I know that all new players will be welcomed and
I hope that you new players will enjoy your season as much as we did last.
Please don't forget to join the Regnum Club either as full or social
members, this is very important as we don't want to lose the venue
(should the club committee not be happy with the league and its membership).
There will be new player profile questionaires to fill out, please
fill these out and return as soon as possible, I'm looking forward to
reading them and putting on the website (please remember not to use
bad language, the site is for anyone to read , minors included). If
you wish to change details during the season (Dunner) let me know and
I'll do that.
I hope you all enjoy and have a great darting season.
Cheers,
Dave Lee |
