PLAYER MEETING DETAILS
Thursday, Aug 23, 2007
The player meeting was held and thank you to all those present.
There were a couple of ideas put forward and voted on. These were to
change the format from playing all 10 legs to playing a best of ten
match with two points for a win and one for a draw. There was a vote
taken and it was a unanimous decision to keep the format unchanged
with one point awarded for each leg won.
The other vote was to decide on the number to be relegated and
promoted, it was decided to go for 4 up and 4 down.
The Regnum Club is a private members club and all players are
required to become at least a "social member". This costs
10 pounds for a years membership. Please see the club steward Steve
Tapner for an application form before the season begins.
The 2 pounds a week match fees will continue, this is paid on a play
and pay basis.
There will be two extra competitions this season. Divisional Cup KO's
as well as the League Players KO.
The season will begin on Monday October 1st, the fixtures for the new
season are now complete and on the stats page,
or the stats site www.rpdl.leaguerepublic.com.
Thank you
PLAYER MEETING
Wednesday, Aug 8, 2007
There will be a player meeting next Monday (13th August) at 8pm at
the Regnum Club.
Please try to attend as there will be, I am sure, decisions to be
made on the coming season. If needed there will be voting done on
matters arising.
I look forward to seeing as many of you there as possible.
Thank You
DIVISION 2 UPDATE

included in the division, this means at the moment there are 21 players.
Peter Mainhardt has been in touch but unfortunately too late to be in
the 21..Peter is now first reserve in case of any withdrawals.
I have entered the names into the stats site www.rpdl.leaguerepublic.com
and am awaiting confirmation of players playing before setting up the
fixtures..too see the names there are drop-down menus next to SEASON
and DIVISION, click on WINTER2007 and REGNUM2.
Please can any players deciding to withdraw let me know ASAP..thank you
Dave
DIV 2 PLAYERS
Saturday, July 28, 2007
I now have the 20 players required for the second division in 2007/08.
These players are (in no particular order) :
Alan Price; Steve Tapner; Holly Jones; Hayley Gatford; Shaun
Bartlett; Rob Tite; Steve Aizlewood; Mike Rooke; Terry Humphreys;
James Wagg; Simon Casey-Rodgers; Lewis Kalli; Adey Nicholls; Mazz
Tupper; Paul Woolfenden; Peter Mitchell; Derek Mitchell; Karen West;
Ian Hackett and Mick Dunn.
Welcome to you all.
On reserve (in case of any withdrawals) is Simon Wood.
Reserves will be asked on a first come first served (ie. in the order
that they are shown here) basis to participate should a player
withdraw. In the coming few days I will be adjusting the stats site accordingly.
Should any of the above players wish to withdraw from the league
please let me know asap. Thank you.
I will also now confirm with the regnum a date for a player meeting
to go through the basics of the league, and for any matters arising
from last season.
For those of you that don't know, although I run the league and
websites I am not in overall control of it and league decisions will
be made by the players, so it is in your interests to attend the
meetings when they are held. If a vote is needed for any matter then
the majority will be the deciding factor.
Thank you all for applying to join and I hope that another great
season will be enjoyed by all.
CUT OFF DATE IS NEARLY HERE
Wednesday, July 18, 2007
The cut off date for entry into the 2007/08 season is not far off
(July 31st), and at the moment I have 16 new players. Only four
spaces left to be playing in Division 2. The 16 are :
Steve Aizlewood ; Shaun Bartlett ; Simon Casey-Rodgers ; Hayley
Gatford ; Terry Humphreys ; Holly Jones ; Lewis Kalli ; Peter
Mitchell ; Adey Nicholls ; Alan Price ; Mike Rooke ; Steve Tapner ;
Rob Tite ; Mazz Tupper ; James Wagg and Paul Wolfenden.
The next four entrants are garuanteed a place and then players will
be on reserve in case of any player pulling out.
BRISTOW & LOWE IN LITTLEHAMPTON
Wednesday, July 18, 2007
Eric Bristow and John Lowe are coming to Littlehampton in August. If
you fancy meeting and playing against two of the biggest names in
darts just click on the Littlehampton Darts link on this site and
then click on the photo of Lowe and Bristow to get details.
WELCOME TO ALL NEW PLAYERS
Thursday, July 5, 2007
At the moment I have 13 new players for the 2007/08 season, the names
will be published and added to the stats site after the cut off date
for entry which is July 31st. A quick reminder to all that if less
than 15 players are registered before that date then the first
division will be extended to include all. There is now a new maximum
for division two 20 players, this is due to Jon Stadius joining the
police force and due to commitments and future placement (as yet
undecided) has decided to withdraw from the league. We wish Jon all
the best in his new career and hope that he will continue to follow
the league and let us know how he is doing via the site guestbook.
With regards to this website I am in the process of setting up a new
site which will have our own domain and more space for more features.
The stats site will remain at www.rpdl.leaguerepublic.com.
As you may have noticed there is not a lot of music on the site now
this is due to not a lot of uploading space, and I wanted to show you
all the new logo on the homepage (thanks to Ian Hackett for the design).
I hope we will be able to put a representative team into the Sussex
Inter-League KO. E-mails have gone out and please let other players
who are not on e-mail know of this event. Once I have details of the
team to play I can make arrangements for car sharing etc.
Please e-mail or call, or leave a message here in the guestbook if
you are able to play. Thank you.
A FUTURE STAR OF THE LEAGUE IS BORN
Thursday, July 5, 2007
Many congratulations go to Pat and Julie O'Hara on the birth of their
son Cameron. Cameron came into the world on Saturday June 30th at
8.07pm and weighed in at 5lb 15oz. We look forward to seeing Cameron
at the oche in years to come, and we wish all the family love, health
and happiness.
CUT OFF DATE
Wednesday, June 20, 2007
In order to give myself a good chance of getting everything set up in
time, I have decided that July 31st will be the last day for entry
into the 2007/08 season. If less than 15 new players are commited by
that date then there will be only one division and therefore a longer
season and more legs for you all. Any players expressing an interest
after July 31st will be on a reserve list (as with last season on a
first come basis) in case of any players dropping out.
If 15 and up to 21 players then a second division will be put into
effect, as I have said before entry will be on a first come-first
served basis, any more than 21 will be on reserve in case of players
dropping out.
A player meeting to be held on Monday August 13th at the Regnum (date
to be confirmed).
Please let all interested players know.
Thank you
A NEW SEASON...NEW PLAYERS
Monday, Apr 16, 2007
There has been a lot of interest by new players wishing to join the
league. So a second division looks on the cards. As yet I have heard
of none of the original 21 players wishing to withdraw, so any new
players will play in division 2. As with last season entry will be on
a first come first served basis, and as there will be 21 in div 1, I
will look for 21 players in div 2. Any extra will be put on reserve
(again on a first come first served basis) in case of any withdrawals.
There will be a player meeting in June or July (date as yet
undecided) for all players to attend (new included) to air any views
on the format or set up. If neccessary a vote by the players will
decide on any changes, so it is in your interests to attend.
I shall be playing in the stardarts and superleague (work permitting)
as well as at the snooker club comps, so if you are definately
interested please let me know asap. At this moment in time I have
four definates.
I look forward to hearing from you soon.
Thank you.
What a fantastic night
Tuesday, Mar 20, 2007
I hope that you all enjoyed the presentation night, I was hoping for
a great night and so it turned out with a brilliant surprise, a
birthday boy, a funpacked blind pairs ko and raising a decent amount
of money for charity.
The surprise (and was it a surprise) was the appearance of Andy
"Rocky" Jenkins, who not only presented the trophies but
also showed what a great bloke he is by playing in the blind pairs.
My grateful thanks go to Alan, Wolfie, Mick, Coxy, Dunner in fact
everyone who helped with the surprise and somehow managed to keep it
a secret from me.
I hope that everyone likes the trophies they were awarded, my two, I
know, will be proudly on display ahead of all my others.
The birthday boy, Dunner, now 42, was presented with a special
dartboard cake (three candles - 20,20,double 1) and thanks for that
go to Julie O'Hara. I hope you enjoyed your evening Paul. I know he
was terrified when the cry went up "speech, speech".
Onto the blind pairs and I guess that everyone was hoping to be drawn
with Rocky (I know I was) and Chris G was the lucky one. Thank you to
everyone who participated and paid their "at least a pound"
entry money. I am very pleased to say that 75 pound was raised
through entry and I know that there was a lot less than 75 people
entered, Andy Jenkins then said that he would double the money to 150
pounds, and before I could announce this Hayley Gatford had given me
a fiver to make it 80, so in all 155 pounds was raised to go to the
winners charity of their choice. The final was brilliant with Keith R
and Dunner taking on Andy J and Chris G, some great exhibition darts
from Andy and some great fun moments provided by all four. Keith and
Dunner won the final 3-2 and they have asked for the money to go
Cancer Research, which I will do with the greatest of pleasure. Thank
you all once again for a brilliant night of fundraising, we were only
a small group but we did great.
I have a load of thank you's to say...and I would like to start with
thanking the players. This was an idea as you know brought about by a
meeting between myself and Dunner, it has been hard work setting it
all up and I will come to those people who have helped in bit, but if
it wasn't for the players taking a chance on a new league and maybe
losing friends in the process this could not have happened.
There have been others who have helped me in setting it all up and my
thanks go to Steve Tapner and the Regnum Club for giving us a
fantastic base and facilities, Alan "fluff" Price for his
assistance in setting it up and for coming along every week to help
out with chalking & scoring, Mazz Tupper who drew out the match
order every week and also helped with chalking the extra matches,
Coxy's wife Hazel who made up the "footie, golf and sporting
" fundraising cards, the dart WAGs who have been supporting week
in, week out, Pauline Dunn who organised with her friends Gill and
Graham Bevis our excellent shirts and last but not least Wolfie who
in his own words said to me " this is the future of darts not
just on tv but in the provincial areas of the sport, the sport is
getting bigger and players will get better by playing in this kind of
format' and to that end he very kindly made a donation to the league.
I believe that he is right and I believe that everyones darts have
improved over the course of this season, from Mario to Mick. Mario
and Mike F have, I believe, been the stars of the season, every week
they have played got beaten (sometimes 0-10) and the next week they
have come back to play again and try to improve their game. This is
why there is no wooden spoon, but a trophy saying 21st place, they
have worked hard at their game and I for one am extremely proud of
them, as I am of all of you.
Thank you once again to all of you.
I shall be letting you all know when the league AGM will be. Please
attend with your ideas and comments for next season. As I have said
from the start this is a league for players and the decisions will
come from the players.
I just hope that I can get the photos on here soon.
Cheers for now... Dave |
